Walt Disney World for Boys (and moms of boys)
Castles, mice, and princesses, oh my! But, what about for the tough guy in your life who doesn’t think it is “cute” to be your Prince Charming?
Never fear, Walt Disney World is the perfect place for those rough and tumble guys in your life too!
From the thrill and adventure of a day conquering the Mountains of Walt Disney World to discovering hidden caves on Tom Sawyer’s Island… Not to mention a Pirate Adventure complete with a pirate makeover and training with Jack Sparrow, the Magic Kingdom has lots to offer boys that doesn’t involve a tiara or a castle, despite being seen by many as the most Princess-y of the parks. For a great way to explore the magic of this park from your boys’ perspective, be sure to check out Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom too. Stop by City Hall for your free pack of cards to get started! Your daredevil will also probably be more than happy to race you around Tomorrowland Speedway and show just why insurance is higher for boys, and while you are in Tomorrowland, don’t forget to head out of this world to battle the evil Zurg in Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, the perfect attraction for your videogame-loving little man!
In Animal Kingdom, your family can venture into the wild of Africa on a Safari, and afterwards, wander the trails of Africa to get an up close look at Gorillas, Bats, Meerkats and more! In Asia your boys will love finding the Yeti on Expedition Everest. And don’t forget to get soaked on Kali River Rapids! Head back in time to the land of the dinosaurs to enjoy carnival games and rides – while the kids enjoy playing in The Boneyard in Dinoland, where they can dig fossils, climb and play to their hearts content, the parents can take a breather for a while. And of course, every boy is going to love Pandora. From riding on Banshees, to devouring cheeseburger pods and banging on the massive percussion instruments – there is so much for them to enjoy! Don’t forget to stop by Windraders and have your kids adopt their very own Banshee! They won’t want to take them off their shoulder during your whole vacation!
But, the fun doesn’t stop for the guys in EPCOT either! Yes, the sisters of Norway may garner most of the attention at Rope Drop, but that just means you’ll have no wait as you head to Test Track to race 60 miles per in a car your boys have designed themselves! Don’t forget to discover Mars in Mission Space and circle the globe via hang glider on Soarin’. You’ll also want to build in time to play in all the amazing interactive activities after rides like Spaceship Earth, Mission Space, Journey into Imagination and Test Track! And of course, our favorite activity for little ones is Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure. Help Agent P from Phineas and Ferb save World Showcase with a phone in a fun, interactive game throughout the park!
Finally in Hollywood Studios can make your man happy too as you feel the flames burning against your face when you venture on a quest with Indiana Jones at his stunt show spectacular. Let your young Jedi battle the dark side as part of Jedi Training or Star Tours. Rock out with Aerosmith on Rockin’ Rollercoaster, or show just how tough you are as you take on the haunted Tower of Terror! For the littlest of tough guys, no day is complete without meeting Jake of the Neverland Pirates or hanging around with Woody and Buzz at Toy Story Midway Mania and the meet and greet just across from it. Your little man can even join the ranks of the Green Army Men!
If you are looking for a day outside of the parks, try dinner at T-Rex at Disney Springs and keep an eye out in the Ice Age room for some fun meteor showers throughout your meal. Another great activity to consider would be the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage that sails on Seven Seas Lagoon with several of your favorite friends from Neverland!
So, obviously, Walt Disney World offers so much more than just princesses. BUT…what if you are a mom whose inner little girl is just dying to escape and you have to meet at least one princess or you’ll explode? Yeah…Disney World thought of that too. Be sure to schedule a meal with those rotten stepsisters of Cinderella’s at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian Resort. Cinderella may have gotten her Charming, but the stepsisters will be none too happy to fight over your little guy. In fact, you might want to prepare for an impending engagement with a Ring Pop if he should find the sister of his dreams! (Then, sit back and watch the mayhem and jealousy unravel.)
