Dining with FTC – Flying Fish
http://maniadecachorro.com/wp-json/ Flying Fish was always my favorite signature service location, so I was so excited to eat there again after its re-opening…and it did not disappoint!
Located on the Boardwalk, the restaurant’s locale is ideal. It’s a beautiful area to spend the evening. The décor of the restaurant is simple, clean, and modern. The white bubble chandeliers are beautiful and add a bit of whimsy to the clean lines of the rest of the restaurant.
I found the service at Flying Fish to be impeccable! Our waiter was friendly and was well versed in the menu and what wine pairings would go well with our meal selections.
Now, on to the most important part…the food!
First, a bread basket was brought out for the table’s enjoyment. The bread was baked with nori and served with butter and sea salt. The nori was not overpowering, and the bread was a delightful balance of sweet and salty. It was a wonderful start to our meal. Then, our main course arrived. I had the scallops which were, in a word, heavenly! The scallops were perfectly cooked and sat on a bed of antebellum grits and topped with a peppadew emulsion. The grits were rich and creamy, and the sweet, flavorful emulsion paired perfectly with the dish. I savored every bite of this dish. Hands down one of the best entrees on Disney property I have ever tasted!
When our waiter asked if we would like dessert, I wasn’t sure I could eat another bite. But there was a dessert drink that tempted me…the Peanut Butter Freeze. I am so glad I splurged on this! It was my favorite drink I had throughout the trip. A rich, cold, and decadent drink of Kahlua, Bailey’s, crème de banana, dark crème de cacao,
and peanut butter, topped with candied bacon and banana…who could say no? (Not me!) It was a dessert unto itself.
I am thrilled to say I love this redesigned Flying Fish restaurant as much as I ever did. The food and atmosphere are superb, and it is the perfect spot for a special dinner. I will definitely visit again!
